Story of Fund

Stock fund general education girl in cap and gown

Marian Puckey Faris was a lifelong resident of central Pennsylvania and spent her lifetime dedicated to education.  She graduated as the salutatorian and valedictorian from Altoona High School and Lock Haven State Teachers College, respectively.  After receiving her undergraduate and master's degrees from Penn State, she went on to become a principal at Madison Elementary School in Altoona and later a math teacher at Altoona High before retiring in 1969.  Marian was a member of the State College Presbyterian Church, the Senior Citizens Club and Center in State College, and held county, state, and national memberships with education associations.  She was also active with the Centre County historical association, the Pi Lambda Theta Education Honorary Fraternity, and the Altoona Chapter's Order of the Eastern Star.  Marian created this fund to support charitable work in Centre County.
