Skip Coleman Memorial Basketball Scholarship Fund

Encouraging excellence in athletics at State College Area High School

Story of Fund

Fund general education

Warren "Skip" Coleman served as the Junior Varsity Basketball Coach and Middle School Track Coach for the State College Area School District. A State High graduate, Skip had an amazing impact on many young people as a coach and friend. He expected a great deal from his players and challenged them, while also letting them know they could always come to him with their problems, be they sports-related or not. It is an honor to his work and spirit that this scholarship is created as a lasting memory for all he did for State College athletics.

How Does it Help?

"Coach, you left a big footprint on my heart. I will never forget you."

This fund provides an annual award and a plaque to a senior member of the State College High School varsity basketball team. The mission of the SCASD is to prepare students for lifelong success through excellence in education. The district draws its students from a 150 square mile attendance area encompassing the Borough of State College and the surrounding townships of College, Ferguson, Halfmoon, Harris, and Patton, totaling an enrollment of approximately 6,900.
