Supporting the future of the Centre County community

Story of Fund

Philip brooks lovett

Philip Brooks Lovett was born in 1916 in Danville, graduating at the top of his class at Danville High in 1934 and continuing his education at Penn State.  He received both his undergraduate and Master’s degrees from Penn State, then immediately joined the teaching staff as a professor of mechanical engineering.

In 1948, Lovett married Mary Frances Cannard, whom he had known his all his life and was also from Danville.  They were married almost 60 years, living in State College and then at Foxdale Village.  She passed in 2006.

Lovett lived his life in service to others.  He was actively involved with St. Paul’s United Methodist Church in State College, as well as seven Masonic organizations. He enjoyed photography, travelling, birding, gardening, and collecting clocks, stamps, and antiques. He was a kind and generous man who will be missed by his family and countless friends.

How Does it Help?

It is more blessed to give than to receive.
