Dorothy and Paul Rigby Fund

Gathering musicians who love to play, for a community inspired by classical music

Story of Fund

Fund dorothy and paul rigby

Paul  and Dotty have lived in State College since 1964.  Paul was The Associate Dean for Research and Graduate Programs and Professor of Business Administration at PSU, retiring in 1997.  Dotty taught 9th Grade Social Studies in the State College Area for about 15 years retiring in 1981. After her teaching career she went to work for a design studio  as a project and office manager for 25 years.  She is also now retired.  They have two sons. Classical music is a passion for Dorothy and Paul Rigby and it was their desire to support a continuing source of classical music to inspire the passion for this music in the younger generation.

How Does it Help?

We chose to create this fund at Centre Foundation because it is an integral part of our community.

This fund provides support for the operations of the Nittany Valley Symphony.  Since 1967 the Nittany Valley Symphony has been part of our community, giving opportunity for local musicians to perform music for audiences to hear and enjoy. At the heart of the symphony is a group of dedicated musicians who are from the community. They are our friends and neighbors -- homemakers, business operators, physicians, professors, students, retirees, and many others whose interest in live music brought them together into a unique organization. What they have in common is the love of playing music.
